History
Port au Choix proudly boasts of being the Fishing Capital of Western Newfoundland. Upon entering this beautiful town, a visitor is captivated by the traditional fishing fleet. The species of fish that are caught include Halibut, Turbot, Lobster, Shrimp, Crab, Red Fish, Herring, and Mackerel.
Port au Choix has a National Historic Park. It is rich in an intriguing prehistory of the Groswater Eskimo, Dorset Eskimo, and Maritime Archaic Indians. Any visit would not be completed without viewing the archaeological dig at Phillip's Garden.
There are other sightseeing attractions, including Pointe Riche Lighthouse, the French Shore, and Fishery Products International Plant.
